James Franklin sets record straight on Crumbl cookies at Virginia Tech National Signing Day

James Franklin, Crumbl cookies, Penn State, BYU and Virginia Tech are somehow all connected? Confused? Well, Franklin got the record straight Wednesday.

First, a little color. Penn State was orchestrating the hiring of BYU head coach Kalani Sitake but mentioned Crumbl CEO and BYU fan Jason McGowan intervened. After he did, Sitake signed a new contract with the school and Penn State was left hanging.

Franklin, dismissed by Penn State in the middle of the season, was of course busy recruiting new students to his new ground Virginia Tech. A box of Crumbl cookies was however spotted in-house, maybe as a token troll to his old school? Franklin did not specifically refute or verify, but left it to the imagination of all.

Franklin said through CBS Sports College Football that people are attempting to link the dots there and generate some drama. “I’m focused on Virginia Tech. … We are long-term Crumbl cookies enthusiasts.

Having failed to hit on Sitake, and Jeff Brohm of Louisville had they gone after him as he intends to remain with the Cardinals, interim coach Terry Smith may be the action. Although Penn State has a head start as Franklin was fired in the middle of the 3-3 record in the year 2025, the university has not managed to comply with a new permanent head coach.

Vincent Smith, who was offered the position, is being pressured by On3 donors of Penn State to offer Smith the position, according to Pete Nakos. Smith finished his interim period, 3-3 with three consecutive wins to make it to a bowl game; otherwise the season would have been a 100 percent disaster.

The end product of what Virginia Tech hopes to achieve is to be someday affiliated with the elite programs out there. The school made a huge investment to assist the football program, and this was one of the reasons why Franklin was signing. The Hokies are eager to achieve a competitive level once again and locate a means to jump once again.

It is one thing to be competitive and we have taken a step in being competitive, Franklin said Wednesday on ESPN2. But I believe you fellas are paying close attention and there are 10 programs in the country that are not the same as any other. Just like, a lot unlike everybody. That is what everybody is attempting to do. Discover alternative methods of being creative and strategic in closing those gaps. We stand an opportunity to succeed like all others.
